Content & SEO Marketing Intern

About the Role

We are looking for a Content & SEO Marketing Intern to help us scale our organic marketing channels. You may not have very much experience of SEO or writing copy, but what you lack in field time, you make up for in raw ability and thirst for knowledge.

We’ll be asking you to hit the ground running, learning the ins-and-outs of our brand, product offering and tone of voice so you can accelerate our SEO and create compelling, engaging copy for our blog posts.

This role will give you the opportunity to flex both your creative and analytical muscles, and will leave you well-versed in SEO and content creation. You’ll work closely alongside our Marketing and Commercial teams and will have the opportunity to make a huge impact on how we do things at Urban Jungle.

Roughly 60% of your time will be spent on SEO:

  • Source and contact websites for link building. You’ll manage our outreach email account to keep track of who we’ve contacted and when.
  • Upload blogs to our website using our CMS (Ghost).
  • Monitor SEO ranking performance.
  • Report on backlink success using Excel/Google Sheets.

The rest of your time will be spent on Copywriting:

  • Write and curate blog content. You’ll be learning all about the intricacies of SEO copywriting and you’ll start to take ownership of our blog. With help from our Marketing team, you'll start getting to grips with how to optimise your writing for SEO wins.
  • Proof-read and edit both your work and the work of our freelance Copywriter.

What We’re Looking For From You:

  • An appetite to learn and acquire SEO knowledge quickly.
  • You need to love writing! The prospect of curating compelling content for a wide range of audiences excites you.
  • An enthusiastic problem-solver with a creative mind.
  • Extreme attention to detail - you’ll be able to spot a stray comma from a mile away!
  • Excellent under pressure - when deadlines pile on, you always keep your cool.
  • A great communicator - you’re good at explaining exactly what you mean.
  • The ability to take initiative - you’re a self-starter, who makes their own opportunities.
  • Be collaborative and open to constructive criticism - you’re great at taking and implementing feedback.

Urban Jungle is an inclusive employer and values diversity at our company. So long as you’ve got the skills for the job, even if you don’t fit these requirements exactly, we’d love to hear from you!

You can expect from us:

  • A starting salary of £23,000
  • 25 days of paid leave (pro rata), plus public holidays
  • Clear objectives with regular feedback
  • Whatever kit you need to be effective
  • A commitment to developing your understanding of SEO and content creation
  • Experience in a fast-growing start-up and in an expanding Marketing team
  • Objectives from our day one with constructive feedback throughout
  • Regular team socials and events
  • An open environment where you will be challenged from day one!
