What is Tenants Liability Insurance and what does it cover?

Tenants Liability Insurance covers your landlord’s stuff that your tenancy agreement says you are liable for. It can cover accidental damage to your landlord’s fixtures, fittings or furniture.

It could be something as small as stains on carpet, or something bigger like a broken window.

You won’t be covered for your liability in causing a fire (so watch those candles), and you won’t be covered for wear and tear, or damage caused deliberately or through negligence.

Do I need Tenants Liability Insurance?

How can I prove I have Tenants Liability Cover to my landlord or property agent?

If your landlord requests you to purchase Tenants Liability Cover you may have to prove that you’ve purchased it and we’ve made it easy for you to do.

If you have our Tenants Liability Policy, you can send your full policy document.

If you have our Standard Contents Policy, you can send your landlord, letting agent (or anyone else who needs to know) your full policy document to prove you have Tenant’s Liability cover. Your Tenant’s Liability cover level is listed in the “Schedule of Insurance & Statement of Fact” section.
